Decyfer Down and my struggle for faith.
Decyfer Down has released their second album, Crash. I had the pleasure of seeing these guys at last year’s X-Fest in Kinston, NC. They totally blew me away. TJ’s vocals are amazing and as soon as they were done playing I rushed over to buy the album! What really took me by surprise was the fact that they were a Christian Band. I would never willingly pick up or listen to Christian music. I have struggled with my faith for years, never really understanding the idea of organized religion and a devotion to God. Decyfer Down’s message was clear, when you’ve hit rock bottom who do you ask for help?
When I can barely hold on
You promise me you won’t let me go
And I want you to know
I don’t live a perfect life
But God knows I’m trying the best I can
And I have wasted so much time
Pretending I’m alright about who I am
But now I’m living the best I can
I won’t say that I’ve found the devotion that same people have… but I’ve opened myself up to possiblity that when I say my prayers for those who need it the most someone is listening. Music is a powerful thing.
I can’t say enough about this band. If I could, I’d buy a copy for everyone I know. Give these local guys a chance and pick up the album. You won’t regret it.
